Hey! Im going myself to learn kung fu, in Kunyu academy of kung fu. How much time do you think it will take for an average person to do these kind of things? Thanks!
Most people think that acrobatics is useless in a fight, but this can be an important of the training because it provides a lot of spatial awareness and stance recovery speed (kip up, handspring, flips, etc.). Acrobatic also teaches the correct technique of falling from height (when being tackled, thrown, pushed down…) so that it allows the person to minimize the falling impact on the body by maximizing the dissipation of impact through the body (rolls, exhaling, muscle loosing, etc.). We tend to think that we should use hands to support ourselves during falls, but this is what leads to wrist fracture since our hands have a small surface area; instead, we should allow our forearm or our whole arm to absorb that impact since it has more surface of contact (force is distributed on a larger surface). However, those moves need to be performed quickly and intuitively to be effective in a combat.
