Great talk I'm 68 years old and at the present time I have been doing Kettlebell Swings, Pushups etc. along with some walking your video has motivated me to get back to running. About 35 years ago 😂I used to run 12ks in about 48 minutes now its probably going to look more like 12ks in 72 minutes lets see how I go, Cheers
Fantastic content – earned a sub and looking forward to learning more as I get back into Hybrid fitness!
god damn this editing skill, good choice of everything!
I am 55 years old. In the last 5 years, I have completed the 6-day "Breck Epic" mountain bike race in Breckenridge Colorado FOUR times. Over 6 days, the race covers 220 miles with a total of roughly 38,0000 feet of climbing – most of it above 11,000 feet from Brecks base of 9600.
Strength training is an absolute must. Flexibility, endurance – my training bike rides are 5+ hours and strength all work together.
you need alot of money and time for this
I just want to know what stack he is on.
man that open looked GOOOOOD
many bodybuiilders go to the cemetary at young age because they neglect real cardio
you are the best bodybuilder, because you run with muscle building
💯….i started running last year and started to include strength training this year…
I'm 14 and I have been training hybrid for a year off and on and it clears your mind so much better than just weightlifting
Yo bro! Exactly, i have been doing this myself for years, currently i am about 2/3 cardio/HIT, and 1/3 Strength training, however this adapts with injuries, age, environmental circumstances, and even genetics.
So… How did you do it?
Weight lifting is always part of the training of almost all sport. Now its called hybrid training haha.
Vo2 max. According to peter Atio, it’s the best indicator of non-cause mortality
Since 4 months now i combine Roadcycling, Trailrunning and Lifting, this is the best dicission i have ever made!
Hi Nick, i would love to get my last bit of motivation to start my hybrid transformation, from the man himself, you! If you could tell me to become a hybrid athlete would mean the world to me! Love your content, keep it up, greetings from Germany!
A proper human diet will help more than anything else.
Great vid, fellow British soldier here (Also left in 2018). I can relate to your story, I wanted to gain muscle mass when I left, which I was successful to a point, but I found myself being drawn towards endurance sports after a half marathon. I have recently completed an aquathlon and will be soon signing up for a triathlon! I have a question though, I have a hard time trying to eat the amount of calories I burn and wonder if you have any resources on nutrition that might be useful for me?
61, Vegan, I do HIT in the gym and love it. I do TRT to keep me in the normal range and supplement with creatine monohydrate.
We are traveling for the next 4-5 years, in Latin America. My goals are to gain muscle because I don’t want to look like an easy target…goal 2 is to drop maybe 20 pounds of body fat slowly….and longevity…staying in good shape well into my older years.
I hate to run but was thinking about starting zone 2 n 5 training on an exercise bike. I am seeing great gains in the gym and just did not want that to slow due to cardio. Thx !
Didn’t know it had a name but I’ve been doing lifting and running for a while now (almost 10 years) since I got my new house a few years ago a staple workout a couple times a week is running buy in before a workout at the amenity center and a nice easy run back home.
Always has been training hybrid. It is because im conscripted in the army. Surprisingly the army don’t care how muscular a soldier, instead they want soldier who can trek 2 mountains and then have the mentality to conduct mission.
Ive literally fallen into this after trying to bodybuild for 15+ years. I had the same experience after getting out of the marines and not wanting to run. Its taken me 10 years being out to get back into running and now I love being more of a hybrid athlete. A well rounded warrior.
Cross training with a fancy name
Quick question, do you consider Rich Froning a hybrid athlete?
Do you offer a beginner hybrid program?
Started incorporating hybrid training and intermittent fasting and man the fat just wasted away…I feel and look awesome
it always made sense to me to be hybrid athlete cus I feel like it is how us humans should live our lives
0:14 best part of the video !!
Been training like this for 4yrs now!! Best thing ever. This summer focused on cycling as I have a big cycling trip planned for the Fall. Always underlying the riding with strength. Once trip is done, I’ll transition to more strength. It’s allowed me to be flexible in my goals and be ready for anything. I’m 57 and my V02 is 44 and I can deadlift 300lbs at 153lb BW…and still smash out >100km rides with > 1000m of climbing!
Great video, enjoyed it !
Yo your vids seem good but it should be mentioned that there are differences in how one can train in a hybrid way (and what one can achieve) when one is natural vs enhanced like you, I think in such a vid it shouldve been touched on otherwise it gives people the wrong idea
How do you measure/optimize your recovery between these two forms of exercise?
I run a mile before I lift weights four days a week. I utilize Wendlers 531 program based around bench, squat and close grip BP. I switch bars on my max lifts every month. I follow up my main lifts with more of bodybuilding accessory exercises sets and rep schemes. I'm also 47yrs old with a four year old son. I plan on meeting my grandson or daughter one day and doing all the above will help that happen. I will never stop running nor lifting.
I beleive in strength workout and running together !! thanks
❤
I'm subscriber number 1,000,000 🎉
I knew I was a badass but now I be confirmed it with this video
I didn’t know I was a hybrid athlete tht dope
Does anyone know what song that is in the intro?
I do run , swim and gym and it’s great ! I
The intro is on another level. keep up bro.
Weightlifting aggressively has made it tough on running. I love how running feels especially the mental side of it, but it taxes my body when i need 100% of my energy to increasing my snatch and clean and jerk. Anyone going through the same? Maybe a powerlifter that loves to run but cant?
Even though it's against the advice of the various " fitness experts" online to do cardio, then weights in a single session, It's wht I love to do. Usually a bike ride and about 9 or so sets of weights right after . It's much easier for me to do a bike ride cold, and then be good and warm to go straight into weights, as opposeed to starting weights cold and have to do a boring warmup. The 'experts" say " you won't have energy to lift if you do cardio first" but that's based off having loftier muscle gain goals, and frankly, the lack of cardio fitness and gain-centric philosophy of the average " fitness " influencer
I get it and i like this type of training and lifestyle… but i hate running… my knee hurt after 2km… but i love cycling… can i just switch running with cycling?
giving like cuz im doing just that for the past 5 years and ive never looked better 🙂
